Standard rules for the fishomania qualifier may 24 2017.

As in previous years, a standard set of rules will apply across all of the Lakes.

This is of particular importance on Tripp Lake which is normally a Float Only venue, this rule will not apply on the day of the Qualifier and any method which is allowed on the rest of the Lakes may be employed.

Match Fishing Rules

Barbless hooks only, maximum size 12

Anglers must not lift their keep nets from the water, fishery staff will be on hand at the end of your match to weigh all fish, this is to prevent damage to our fish stocks

No litter

Dead fish will not be weighed

Bait restrictions : No cat or dog meat

No floating baits,

Popped up baits may be used provided that the bait is without any doubt below the surface

Only pellets (including feed and hook pellets) supplied by the fishery can be used on all Match Waters.

These pellets are available from the fishery office which is situated just past the Swan Pond.

Method bans: All methods can be used unless otherwise stated

Exclusions are : No self hooking floats allowed, including Numpty, Bagging Wagglers, Controller, Bubble type floats, slow sinking feeders or any variations of the above

All Wagglers must be of a standard bottom end only design with a maximum capacity of 12 grams including loading.

Please note that the shotting capacity of the float must be visible (i.e. not painted over) and floats which say 12 + any other amount are too big.

The maximum diameter of the visible portion of the waggler (i.e.that part which is above the surface) may not exceed 12mm in diameter.

This rule is to prevent fishing matches from becoming one method only events as was the case in the past when large self hooking floats were allowed. This rule applies to all match lakes.

These are the standard rules adopted by Messingham Sands for the Fishomania Qualifier on Wednesday May 24th.

Over and above these rules, competitors should also be aware of the Angling Trust Model Match rules which apply to all AT events and can be found online.

HOLLYWOOD LAKE

From18/05/2015

The ban on method feeder and fixed rigs has been lifted , but will remain in place on Merry,s Pool.

The average size of the Carp in Hollywood Lake has increased, such that the lip damage exhibited by smaller Carp when method feeder tactics are employed should be eliminated.

Match Rule Change from April 2014

It has become apparent that anglers are having difficulties sourcing suitable floats with an above surface portion not exceeding 8mm diameter. In order to stay in line with modern float design and still remain outside of the large self hooking float techniques, the maximum above water diameter of floats allowable has been increased from 8mm to 12mm. The total shotting capacity will remain the same, i.e. 12 grams

To clarify this, the above water (i.e.visible) portion of  all waggler type floats may not exceed 12mm in diameter.
